A 35-year-old Hempstead man was arrested on Wednesday for stealing from parking meters in Freeport. Freeport police spotted the male subject matching the description of someone who had been committing larcenies of parking meters in the vicinity of Roslyn Road and Jericho Turnpike, according to a Nassau County police report. After an investigation, officers arrested the man at around 8pm on April 17th.
The defendant was charged with nine counts of grand larceny, four counts of criminal mischief, two counts of petit larceny, possession of burglar tools, and false impersonation after providing officers with false information.
The defendant also had two open Nassau County warrants from October 23, 2023 for criminal possession of a controlled substance and November 30, 2023 for a violation of probation. The man also has prior arrests for robbery and menacing that occurred on February 6, 2024 for which he was sentenced to probation.
