Queens Woman Arrested for Elder Abuse at Woodmere Rehab Center

Nassau County Police Detectives arrested Lisa Napier, a 41-year-old woman from Queens, for an assault that occurred on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 8:50 am at Woodmere Rehab Center at 130 Irving Place. The victim, a 71-year-old man suffering from a cognitive disorder, was found to have bruises on May 3, 2024.

The victim’s legal guardian became suspicious when bruises appeared on the victim and questioned the facility who was advised the victim fell out of bed multiple times. The legal guardian placed a camera in the victim’s room.

Upon review of camera footage, the guardian witnessed Napier striking the victim multiple times with a closed fist on his face and lower body. Napier also shook the victim several times during the assault. The legal guardian, upon observing fresh bruising on the victim’s face, alerted the authorities.

Police promptly responded, and Lisa Napier was arrested at her residence at 144-12 225th Street in Laurelton without incident. She faces charges of Assault in the 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent/Physically Disabled Person in the 1st Degree, and Endangering a Vulnerable Elderly/Incompetent Person in the 2nd Degree.

Napier’s arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the First District Court in Hempstead.
