A tense situation unfolded last night in Huntington Station, leading to the arrest of a man after a stabbing incident left another individual seriously injured. The incident occurred at Las Lajas Deli on 156 Depot Road around 10 p.m.
According to Suffolk County Police, a verbal dispute between two men escalated dramatically when one of them resorted to violence. The assailant, identified as Adelcy Almendarez, allegedly stabbed the other man multiple times in the neck, chest, and abdomen during the altercation.
Upon receiving the emergency call, officers from the Second Precinct responded to the scene. They arrested Almendarez in connection with the stabbing.
The victim, a 40-year-old male, was promptly transported to a local hospital in serious but stable condition, undergoing medical treatment for the injuries sustained during the attack.
Following the arrest, Second Squad detectives charged Almendarez, a 50-year-old resident of Huntington Station, with Assault and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Almendarez is currently held overnight and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on May 13th.
