Coram, NY – Suffolk County Police arrested an employee of a smoke shop for selling flavored vape products to a person under the age of 21. The incident occurred at Smiley Convenience Smoke Shop located at 191 Middle Country Road on Monday, May 13, 2024.
The arrest came about during a compliance check conducted by Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers in response to community complaints. Officers visited seven locations to ensure age compliance related to the sale of vape products. One store was found not to be in compliance with regulations.
Muhammad Sherwani, 40, of Selden, an employee at Smiley Convenience Smoke Shop, was arrested for selling flavored vape products to an undercover agent who is under the age of 21.
The sale of vape products to minors is a serious offense, and law enforcement continues to monitor and enforce regulations to protect young individuals from the potential harms associated with such products.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
