Candelario Cordova, 54, of Huntington Station, has pleaded guilty to Manslaughter and Attempted Murder, announced Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. The plea stems from the fatal stabbing of 58-year-old Roque Cisneros and the attempted murder of the victim’s wife.
The tragic incident unfolded on February 16, 2023, when Cordova and Cisneros, who were friends and co-workers, were sitting in Cordova’s SUV parked in front of Cisneros’ home. Cisneros’ wife witnessed Cordova trying to get Cisneros out of the vehicle, prompting her to intervene. As Cordova drove away with Cisneros still in the SUV, Cisneros’ wife followed them.
Cordova stopped the SUV on Oakwood Road, retrieved a knife from the trunk, and began stabbing Cisneros multiple times in the neck and body. When Cisneros’ wife tried to stop the attack, Cordova turned on her, slashing and stabbing her as well. Passersby intervened, eventually subduing Cordova until police arrived.
Cisneros succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while his wife was taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment.
Cordova admitted to the charges in court. He is scheduled for sentencing on June 20, 2024, where he faces a 30-year prison term.
