Another Bust in ‘Operation Smoke Out’: Oakdale Man Arrested for Selling Flavored Vape Products

Oakdale, N.Y. – In the latest development of Suffolk County Police “Operation Smoke Out,” a 69-year-old Sayville man was arrested for selling flavored vape products during a compliance check at an Oakdale smoke shop on Saturday evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:35 p.m. on May 18, 2024, at Oakdale Smoke Shop, located at 1316 Montauk Highway. Officers, responding to numerous community complaints, conducted a compliance check and found the shop in violation of the public health law. Sardara Rathaur, an employee, sold flavored nicotine vape products to an undercover police officer.

Rathaur was arrested and charged with the sale of flavored vape products, a public health law violation. He was issued a Field Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date. Officers seized multiple vape products containing nicotine during the operation.

These arrests come in the context of “Operation Smoke Out,” a month-long initiative by Suffolk County Police to combat underage vape sales, as previously reported by litruecrime.com.
