Glen Cove, NY – Early Tuesday morning, Xavier Diaz, a 20-year-old Uniondale man, was arrested following an incident at a local CVS pharmacy. According to reports from the Nassau County Police Department, the incident began at 1:01 AM on May 21st, when Diaz allegedly ordered CVS employees to open two cash registers and made off with the contents. Witnesses say he then fled the scene in a 2015 Chrysler.
Police were quick to respond, with officers spotting Diaz’s vehicle and initiating a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop on Glen Cove Road near the intersection of Northern Boulevard. Diaz fled south on Glen Cove Road, leading police on a high-speed chase that ultimately ended with a crash into the Meadowbrook Parkway overpass.
Diaz was apprehended at the scene and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. He now faces a litany of charges, including Grand Larceny, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He is scheduled to appear in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on Wednesday, June 12th.
