Cold Case of Audrey Chin, LIer Who Disappeared in 1981, Reopened by Nassau Police

Nassau County police have reignited interest in the long-standing missing persons case of Audrey Chin, a 20-year-old who vanished on July 7, 1981, after leaving her East Norwich home to go shopping. Audrey, described by her sister as “responsible, kind, and intelligent.”

On the day she went missing, Audrey picked up her kitten from a local vet then returned home. She left again to go shopping. Her car was later found abandoned.

Audrey’s sisters, Patsy Sant’Angelo, 66, of New Jersey, and Frances Creed, 64, of Port Jefferson, have long believed that she was abducted. Frances speculated that Audrey might have suffered from amnesia due to her injury. Recently, both sisters provided DNA reference samples to investigators at police headquarters in Mineola as part of a renewed effort by the department to focus on cold cases.

Hers is one of the oldest missing persons cases in Nassau County
