Mount Sinai Bartender Arrested for Selling Alcohol to Minor

MOUNT SINAI, NY — A bartender at

 

was arrested early Sunday morning for selling alcohol to an underage police agent during a New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) compliance check.

The incident occurred at approximately 12 a.m. on May 26, 2024, at the establishment located at 164 Route 25A. In response to community complaints, Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers conducted the inspection alongside representatives from the SLA, the Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshal, an investigator, and a building inspector.

During the compliance check, Matthew Donnelly, a 37-year-old bartender residing at 31 Wylde Road, Mount Sinai, sold alcoholic beverages to an underage police agent. Donnelly was arrested and charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the 1st Degree. He was issued a Field Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

In addition to Donnelly’s arrest, numerous summonses were issued to Royal Bar and Billiards for various SLA and building violations.

As a reminder, a criminal charge is an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
