BMW Driver Flees Scene After Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash in Medford

Tragic Collision on Horseblock Road Leaves One Dead, Another Seriously Injured

MEDFORD, N.Y. – In the early hours of Saturday, June 8, 2024, a fatal hit-and-run crash in Medford left one man dead and another seriously injured. The incident occurred at 1:52 a.m. when a 2008 BMW collided with a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Horseblock Road and Express Drive North.

According to Suffolk County Police, the BMW was traveling at high speed northwest on Horseblock Road when it struck the tractor-trailer attempting to make a left turn onto Express Drive North. The violent impact resulted in the BMW driver fleeing the scene on foot, leaving behind his passengers.

One passenger in the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Another passenger was airlifted via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the collision.

The driver of the BMW is described as a Hispanic male wearing a dark-colored shirt and tan shorts. Authorities are actively searching for the suspect and have impounded both vehicles for safety checks.
