Undercover Sting Nets Two in East Meadow for Selling Tobacco to Minors

In an undercover sting operation targeting the sale of tobacco and alcohol to minors, two individuals were arrested in East Meadow on Thursday, June 20, 2024. The arrests were part of the “Project 21” initiative conducted by the First Precinct Special Patrols with the assistance of underage agents.

Sami Al-Ammari, 33, of Staten Island, was arrested for selling tobacco products to a minor at King Smoke Smoke Shop on Newbridge Road. He faces charges of Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 2nd Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of Cannabis 3rd Degree, and Sale of Tobacco Products. Al-Ammari was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear in First District Court, Hempstead, on July 8, 2024.

Kiranpreet Kaur, 21, of Queens, was arrested for selling tobacco products to a minor at Smoke Shop-Pipes and Stuff on Hempstead Turnpike. She faces charges of Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Sale of Tobacco Products, and Possession of Unstamped Cigarettes. Kaur will be arraigned on June 21, 2024, in First District Court, Hempstead.

The arrests underscore the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to curb the illegal sale of tobacco and alcohol to minors, ensuring community safety and compliance with the law.
