Suffolk County Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle crash involving an ambulance that left one man critically injured in Miller Place on Saturday evening.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., an ambulance with its lights and sirens activated was traveling westbound on Route 25A. As the emergency vehicle approached the intersection of Route 25A and Parkside Avenue, a 2008 Subaru Forester, driven by 41-year-old Mathew Goff of Port Jefferson Station, attempted to make a left turn onto Parkside Avenue. The Subaru collided with the ambulance, resulting in significant injuries.
Goff was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition. The ambulance’s two employees sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, along with the patient who was being transported in the ambulance at the time of the crash.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
