ATM Fraudsters Nabbed After Placing Skimmers on Franklin Square Cash Machines

Two men were arrested in Franklin Square for a series of ATM skimming incidents, following a 911 call about suspicious activity at the Ridgewood Savings Bank on June 22, 2024. Nassau County police arrived to find Pavel Olewski, 30, and Andrei Stefan, 36, allegedly installing a skimming device on the bank’s ATM.

Investigations revealed that Stefan had placed skimming devices at the same bank on five additional occasions in June, as well as at another location in Bellmore. Olewski was involved in placing skimmers at the Franklin Square bank on three other dates with Stefan.

Stefan has been charged with seven counts of unlawful possession of a skimmer device, and Olewski faces four counts of the same charge.

According to court records, Olewski was represented in court by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County. He pled not-guilty and was released on his own recognizance.  He is due back in court on July 15th.

No attorney was on record for Stefan who also pled not-guilty and released on his own recognizance  He is due back in court on July 10th.
