Tremayne Winfield, a 39-year-old from Amityville, was convicted of possessing a loaded firearm, marking his third felony conviction. This recent conviction follows a search conducted by Suffolk County Police on April 28, 2023, at a Bay Shore residence. Winfield was found inside with a loaded 9mm handgun and an extended magazine filled with multiple rounds of ammunition.
Winfield’s criminal history includes multiple felony convictions, notably for weapon possession. On June 21, 2024, after a jury trial, he was found guilty of one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C felony, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Class D felonies.
District Attorney Ray Tierney highlighted Winfield’s extensive criminal record and reiterated his office’s dedication to prosecuting violent offenders to protect the community.
Winfield’s previous convictions include Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and other weapon-related charges.
With a sentencing date set for July 19, 2024, Winfield faces the possibility of life in prison.
