Drunk Driver Crashes in North Amityville with 9-Year-Old Daughter in Car

A woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated with her 9-year-old daughter in the vehicle following a motor vehicle crash on Sunday, June 23, 2024, in North Amityville. The incident occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. when Orfa Coccoc, 28, of Freeport, was driving a 2014 Audi Q5 northbound on Route 110 near Ritter Avenue. Coccoc rear-ended one vehicle and then collided with another, causing her Audi to overturn.

The 9-year-old girl was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for precautionary reasons, while the driver of the rear-ended vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the same hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Police officers at the scene observed signs of intoxication in Coccoc and subsequently placed her in custody. She was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Intoxicated, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Coccoc is being held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on June 24.
