Firework Mishap Injures Four and Wrecks Cars in Port Jefferson Station

A Fourth of July celebration turned into a nightmare in Port Jefferson Station when a residential fireworks display went horribly wrong, injuring four people and damaging several cars. The incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. at 9 Foxrun Court, where a large gathering had assembled to watch the fireworks.

During the display, a firework went astray, causing injuries to two men, a woman, and a young girl, and damaging numerous cars parked along the street. Patrice Ambroise, 38, of Mount Sinai, sustained burns and a severe leg injury, while Kieran Doyle, 30, of Selden, suffered burns and a severed finger. A 30-year-old woman and an 8-year-old girl were also treated for minor injuries. All four victims were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital.

Update: Witnesses say that Ambroise, the 30-year-old woman and 8-year-old girl were walking away and a few houses away when a firework exploded at them. No other details are available.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 631-854-8652.
