Two Men Busted in Macy’s Parking Lot Heist After Violent Confrontation

Manhasset, NY – A routine patrol in the Macy Manhasset parking lot at 1100 Northern Boulevard in Manhasset led to the arrest of two Flushing men involved in a robbery, following a violent altercation with store security on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the police, an officer was informed by a Macy’s loss prevention associate that two males had stolen items from the store and were fleeing in a black Kia. The officer stopped the vehicle near Northern Boulevard and Community Drive. The occupants, Lawrence Davis, 37, of 46-18 194th Street, and Hulin Piao, 42, of 139-06 34th Road, were arrested without incident.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Davis had engaged in a physical altercation with a loss prevention associate while attempting to flee the store. This violent scuffle elevated the charges against him.

Both Davis and Piao are facing charges of Robbery 2nd Degree. Additionally, Piao is charged with Criminal Possession of an Anti-Security Item, reflecting the serious nature of their planned theft.

The two defendants are set to be arraigned on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, in First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
