Veteran PIX11 Investigative Reporter Mary Murphy Launches Crime Website

A former investigative reporter at WPIX Channel 11 Mary Murphy recently appeared on the True Crime with the Sarge podcast run by retired NYPD Sergeant SDS (Supervisor Detective Squad) Joseph Giacalone. His podcast has covered many aspects the Long Island Serial Killer (LISK) case and I highly recommend subscribing to it.

We recently highlighted an episode where Giacalone spoke with a data expert on how he tracks unsolved homicide case information to spot serial killers and his thoughts on how many more bodies are out there that might be linked to accused LISK Rex Heuermann. Give it a watch here.

Giacalone recently interviewed Murphy for his show where they addressed a number of topics related to the arrest of Heuermann in connection with the cases of Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Lynn Costello, Melissa Brainard-Barnes, Megan Waterman, Sandra Costilla, and Jessica Taylor. Murphy had extensively covered the LISK case on the news.

Watch the interview below.

Murphy also just launched her own website and news page. Her first interview is an exclusive with Suffolk County DA Ray Tierney, where they also speak at length about the LISK case. Her blog, called My Life of Crime can be found at marymurphyofficial.com.

“From Gotti to Gilgo, veteran TV journalist Mary Murphy has chased leads on the most compelling ‘true crime’ stories of the last forty years,” her website says. “She has reported on the plight of the missing, especially in communities of color, and also received tips from viewers that resulted in the solving of cold case murders.”

In their interview, Tierney talked about the planning document investigators retrieved from Heuermann’s home and its significance in the case. He also spoke about the bodies found near Manorville in the early 2000s close to where two Gilgo victims were discovered. The interview is in two parts and can be watched here.
