CARLE PLACE, NY — A series of burglaries targeted two local nail salons in the early hours of Wednesday, July 17th leaving the community on edge and authorities on the hunt for the suspect.
The first incident occurred at Sunny Nail Spa, located at 300 Voice Road, sometime between midnight and 9:30 a.m. An unknown male suspect shattered the front glass door by hurling a rock, then made off with an unspecified amount of cash. The burglar fled the scene, leaving behind only a trail of broken glass and unanswered questions. Nassau County detectives are actively investigating the case but have released no further details on the suspect.
Just over an hour later, at approximately 1:26 a.m., another nail salon—Blooming Nails & Spa at 104 Westbury Avenue—fell victim to a similar break-in. The suspect, fitting the description of a white male, 5’09” to 5’10” tall and weighing around 160 pounds, forced his way into the establishment by smashing the front glass door with a rock. He then pilfered an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing eastbound on foot towards Westbury Avenue.
Security footage from Blooming Nails & Spa captured a still image of the perpetrator, revealing a man clad in a long sleeve blue plaid button-down shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers, gloves, and a mask.
Despite the proximity and similarities of the two burglaries—both occurring within a half-mile of each other and involving the same method of entry—police have yet to officially connect the incidents.
Nassau County Police are urging anyone with information regarding either incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous, ensuring that the identity of those coming forward will be protected.
