Attempted Murder Charges for Inwood Resident after Brutal Stabbing

An Inwood man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a violent altercation on Sunday night. Nassau County Police Department reported that officers responded to a residence in Inwood at 8:25 p.m. on July 28th after receiving reports of an assault.

Upon their arrival, officers found a 34-year-old male victim lying on the front lawn, his arm wrapped in a blood-soaked sheet. The officers located the suspect, Jose Antonio Cruz, 50, of 59 Pearl Street, in the rear yard of the property and arrested him without incident.

The investigation revealed that Cruz and the victim had been involved in an argument earlier in the day. The confrontation escalated and Cruz allegedly stabbed the victim, who sustained a severe laceration. The victim was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment and is currently in stable condition.

Cruz is facing charges of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and Assault in the Second Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, July 29th at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
