Justin Timberlake had his license suspended during a virtual court hearing on Friday in connection with a drunk driving case.
The 43-year-old Grammy-winning artist, currently in Europe for his world tour appeared via video link in a Long Island courtroom. Sag Harbor Justice Carl Irace criticized Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke, for “irresponsible” comments made after last week’s hearing, NBC News reported. The judge also warned that a gag order could be imposed if Burke did not moderate his remarks.
Burke has firmly denied that Timberlake was intoxicated when he was pulled over in the early hours of June 18, after leaving The American Hotel in Sag Harbor. According to police, the “Cry Me a River” singer was stopped around 12:30 a.m. after his 2025 BMW ran a stop sign and veered out of its lane.
Timberlake maintained that he had only consumed one martini that night. However, the arresting officer noted in a criminal complaint that Timberlake’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and his breath smelled of alcohol. The complaint also stated that Timberlake performed poorly on all field sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test three times before being charged with a misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated.
