Crime Blotter: Nassau County Police Report Multiple Arrests and Incidents

Nassau County Police have reported several significant arrests and ongoing investigations over the past few days. Below are the details of each incident.

Two Men Steal $275K Watch in Greenvale

Two men from Queens Village were arrested on August 1, 2024, for a grand larceny that occurred at Loucri Jewelers in Greenvale on July 17, 2024. Petru Magdas, 49, and Petru Munteanu, 28, allegedly distracted a salesperson and stole an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak custom diamond watch valued at $275,325. They fled the scene in a grey Ford Edge. Both men were arrested without incident, and the stolen watch was recovered. Magdas and Munteanu are charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree and were arraigned on August 2, 2024. Magdas is held on an outstanding warrant, while Munteanu, previously detained by U.S. Border Patrol in 2021, was released without bail and did not return for an electronic GPS.

Fatal Shooting in Freeport

On August 1, 2024, Freeport Police responded to a shot spotter activation on W. Seaman Avenue and discovered 23-year-old Tyrone Williams with a gunshot wound. Williams was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Kyzer Langley, 20, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, was arrested and charged with Murder 2nd Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Langley, who pled not guilty, was arraigned on August 2, 2024, and remanded without bail. The investigation is ongoing, and police are seeking additional information from the public.

Terroristic Threat in Uniondale

Curtis Desir, 29, of Brooklyn, was arrested on August 1, 2024, after making threats to shoot employees at the Uniondale Library. Desir’s threats prompted a lockdown at the library. He was apprehended outside the library without incident and charged with Making a Terroristic Threat and two counts of Menacing 3rd Degree. Desir was arraigned on August 2, 2024. A temporary order of protection was issued against Desir. He pled not guilty. Bail was set for $20,000 cash or $40,000.00 insured bond.

Criminal Mischief in Woodmere

Police are investigating a series of criminal mischief incidents in Woodmere. On July 30, 2024, an unknown male vandalized a 62-year-old woman’s fence with graffiti. Further damage was discovered on another fence on Club Drive. The suspect was last seen walking northbound on Narrow Lane towards West Broadway. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

Human Remains Found in East Garden City

On July 30, 2024, officers responding to a 911 call discovered human remains in a wooded area behind 700 Dibblee Drive in East Garden City. The remains were found in an abandoned encampment and were taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for further examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Commercial Burglary in Great Neck Plaza

A commercial burglary occurred at a Smoke Shop in Great Neck Plaza on August 1, 2024. Four masked individuals broke into the store by throwing a rock through the front window and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. They fled southbound on South Middle Neck Road. Police are seeking information from the public regarding the suspects.

Commercial Burglary in North Massapequa

On August 1, 2024, a burglary was reported at New Forever Elegant Nail Salon in North Massapequa. The perpetrator(s) entered the salon through a rear window and stole an unknown amount of cash from the register. There is no description of the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.

Assault Arrest in East Meadow

Getho Brevette, 27, of Roosevelt, was arrested on August 2, 2024, at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow after a confrontation with officers. Brevette, found trespassing with a group, became combative and swung scissors at officers. He was subdued with a taser and taken into custody. Brevette, who has a history of recent arrests, faces multiple charges including Attempted Assault 3rd Degree and Menacing a Police Officer. He was arraigned on August 2, 2024. Brevette pled not guilty. Bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
