Masked Man Flees West Babylon Bank Empty-Handed
On August 2, 2024, at approximately 3:55 p.m., a masked man entered Chase Bank at 595 Sunrise Highway and handed a teller a note demanding cash. Despite his demands, the suspect fled the scene on foot without obtaining any money. Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are urging anyone with information on this robbery to contact the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
Selden Thief Snags Headphones
Police are on the hunt for a man who stole JBL headphones from the Target located at 307 Independence Plaza in Selden. The theft occurred on July 9, 2024, around 7:40 p.m. Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or whereabouts is asked to contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
Teen Nabbed After Fleeing Crash that Injured Woman in Wyandanch
A hit-and-run crash in Wyandanch has led to the arrest of a 16-year-old Brentwood boy. The incident occurred on August 4, 2024, at approximately 1:35 a.m., when a 2010 Nissan Rogue struck a stopped Kia, pinning Meyli Henriquez, 20, between the Kia and a Toyota Camry. Henriquez was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. The teen driver was arrested later that day and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash with Serious Injuries. He was released on a Desk Appearance Ticket and is set to appear in Family Court in Central Islip. Anyone with information is asked to contact First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152. A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Motorcyclist Killed in Brentwood Hit-and-Run
A tragic hit-and-run in Brentwood resulted in the death of motorcyclist Eloy Khammach La Cruz Andres, 31. On July 29, 2024, at approximately 7:22 p.m., a southbound 2008 Ford Explorer turned left in front of Andres’ motorcycle on Wicks Road near Bradley Street. Andres was ejected from his bike, which caught fire. He was pronounced dead at South Shore University Hospital. The driver, Manuel Gomez, 46, was later arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Involving a Fatality. He is awaiting arraignment. Anyone with further information should contact the Major Case Unit. A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Grand Larceny Suspect Hits Lake Grove Macy’s
A man who swiped four Michael Kors purses valued at approximately $1,500 from Macy’s in the Smith Haven Mall on July 31, 2024, is being sought by Suffolk County Police. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
Centereach Trio Sought in Credit Card Theft
Three men are wanted in connection with a stolen credit card incident in Centereach. On July 26, 2024, multiple credit cards were taken from a purse at ALDI in Lake Grove. Shortly thereafter, the stolen cards were used to purchase $1,200 in gift cards at Target on Pond Path. Anyone with information should contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers.
Melville Pharmacy Burglarized in Early Morning Heist
Suffolk County Police are searching for three individuals who burglarized 110 Pharmacy & Surgical in Melville on July 30, 2024, at approximately 4:45 a.m. The suspects stole cash and other items before fleeing in a black four-door Mercedes-Benz, possibly an S550, with no front license plate. Information on the suspects can be reported to Crime Stoppers.
Thieves Target Melville DICK’s Sporting Goods
Two men are being sought by police for stealing clothing and sports equipment worth approximately $1,630 from DICK’s Sporting Goods in Melville on August 3, 2024. Anyone with information about this incident should contact Crime Stoppers.
