Suffolk County Police reported a series of crimes recently that involved two local businesses being robbed, a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a motorcycle rider, and a massage parlor raid. Below are the stories.
Medford Lowes Hit by Power Tool Thieves
Suffolk County Police are on the lookout for two individuals who made off with assorted power tools from a Lowes store in Medford. The theft took place on July 15 at approximately 6:45 p.m. The suspects targeted the store located at 2796 Route 112. Commack Target Loses $600 in Video Games
Authorities are seeking two men who stole approximately $600 worth of video games from a Target store in Commack. The theft occurred on July 21 at around 5 p.m. at the Target located at 98 Veterans Memorial Highway. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Brentwood Motorcyclist Killed in Fiery Hit-and-Run
A hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Brentwood on July 29. Andres Eloy Khammach La Cruz, 31, was riding northbound on Wick Road when a 2008 Ford Explorer, traveling southbound, made a left turn in front of him. The collision caused Khammach La Cruz to be ejected from his motorcycle, which then caught fire. He was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. Three Hispanic men were seen fleeing the scene on foot. Huntington Massage Parlor Busted for Prostitution
In response to community complaints, Suffolk County Police conducted a raid on Sunny Spa in Huntington Station, resulting in the arrest of Jin Rong Wei, 53, of Flushing. The raid took place on July 29 at approximately 3:20 p.m. Wei was charged with two counts of Unauthorized Practice of a Profession, a felony, two counts of Prostitution, and one count of Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree, both misdemeanors. Multiple violations were also issued to the business by the Town of Huntington. Wei was released on a Field Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip at a later date. A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
