Driver Slams Trooper’s Car Door in Southern State Parkway Chase

A routine traffic stop on the Southern State Parkway turned into a dangerous pursuit on the night of September 1, 2024, when a speeding BMW driver rammed into a State Trooper’s car, injuring the officer before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred just after 10:15 p.m. when a New York State Trooper attempted to stop a black, four-door BMW 540 that was speeding and weaving across multiple lanes of westbound traffic near the Meadowbrook State Parkway. When the driver refused to pull over, the Trooper initiated a pursuit, finally managing to block the vehicle near the Eagle Avenue exit.

However, as the Trooper exited his patrol car, the suspect deliberately accelerated, slamming into the Troop car door and injuring the officer before speeding away once again. The Trooper was rushed to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

The New York State Police are actively investigating the incident and are urging anyone who witnessed the chase or has information about the suspect vehicle to contact Investigators at 631-756-3300. The driver remains at large as authorities intensify their search for the reckless individual.
