Father, Two Sons Arrested After Fight, Shots Fired in Rockville Centre

Three men, all related to each other, were arrested on Saturday evening at around 4:40 pm after an altercation resulted in gunfire.

Kevin Cooper, 56, Kevin S. Cooper Jr., 34, and Devin Cooper, 27, were all involved in a fight with others on the side of a building of 30 Old Mill Court in Rockville Centre when things escalated. Kevin Cooper had a gun hidden in the pocket of his sweatshirt when it accidentally went off, wounding himself in the stomach. The gunfire caused everyone to disperse the scene.

At some point the defendant Kevin S. Cooper Jr., pointed his own handgun at a 50-year-old woman, placing her in fear for her life, according to a police report. He then hit her with the gun causing injuries requiring her to be hospitalized.

Afterward, Cooper Jr. and his brother, Devin ran after another man fleeing the area. Cooper Jr. pointed a loaded handgun at the victim. He then handed the gun to Devin who fired two rounds in the direction of the victim.

Both firearms were recovered. All three defendants reside at an address nearby where the incident occurred.

The men were charged with assault and weapons charges.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
