A disturbance at The Boat Yard Bar in Massapequa turned violent when a Long Beach woman attacked a police officer on Thursday night. Officers responded to a call at 9:25 p.m. about a disturbance at the bar located at 1 Ocean Parkway. During their investigation, a female subject, Nyasia Coombs-Jones, 27, became combative and struck an officer in the face. The officer sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention at the scene. Coombs-Jones was subdued and arrested. No other injuries were reported.
Coombs-Jones is charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, June 28, 2024, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
