More Arrests Made For Underage Flavored Vape Sales; Illegal Gambling Machines Also Found During SCPD’s Ongoing “Operation Smoke Out” Initiative

In a series of targeted operations under the ongoing “Operation Smoke Out,” Suffolk County Police made more arrests related to illegal vape sales and gambling activities.

Flavored Vape Sale to Underage Person at Island Mini Mart: Dharmesh Patel, 31, of Hicksville, was apprehended at Island Mini Mart in Deer Park, where he sold flavored vape products to an undercover agent under 21. This arrest follows community complaints and highlights the police’s vigilance in enforcing age compliance laws regarding vape sales.

Promoting Gambling and Illegal Vape Sales at Ultra Gas: Levent Kara, 61, of North Babylon, was arrested at Ultra Gas in Central Islip. The investigation revealed both flavored vape product sales to an undercover officer and the presence of illegal gambling machines on the premises. This operation underscores the comprehensive approach of law enforcement in tackling multiple illicit activities.

Flavored Vape Sale Violation at Hookah City-Medford: Carlos Escobar, 25, of Patchogue, faced charges for selling flavored vape products to an underage individual at Hookah City-Medford in Medford. The enforcement action by Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers signals a commitment to ensuring compliance with laws regulating vape sales, especially to minors.

These arrests come in the context of “Operation Smoke Out,” a month-long initiative by Suffolk County Police to combat underage vape sales, as reported by litruecrime.com earlier this week. This initiative demonstrates the department’s proactive stance against illegal vape sales and related activities, safeguarding public health and youth well-being.
