Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Remains Found in North Babylon

Suffolk County Police are reaching out to the public for assistance in identifying the remains of a man discovered in North Babylon last year. The investigation stems from a 911 call reporting skeletal remains in Southards Pond Park, just south of Sunrise Highway, on February 15, 2023, around 1 p.m. Homicide Squad detectives conducted an extensive investigation, determining that the cause of death was non-criminal in nature.

According to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, the remains are believed to be of a Black male aged between 25 and 40 years old. He stood between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 5 inches tall and had been deceased for approximately two years before being found. The individual was clad in a black jacket with “Nike Running” on the sleeve, black pants paired with black and white basketball sneakers, and a gray running hat. Additionally, investigators are probing whether a nearby backpack is linked to the deceased.

Attached to the release is a sketch depicting the potential appearance of the man in question.
