Thieves Busted in Macy’s Heist as Nassau Cops Nab Three in Manhasset

MANHASSET, NY – Nassau County Police arrested three individuals involved in a brazen robbery at the Macy’s Department Store on Northern Boulevard. The suspects, Qualiyah Shubrick-Shurley, 20, undomiciled, Scott Clayton, 31, of Brooklyn, and Samuel Battle, 20, of the Bronx, were caught concealing merchandise and threatening to harm loss prevention officers.

The chaos unfolded at 2:35 pm on Wednesday when the trio’s antics drew the attention of store security. Upon police arrival, Battle was immediately apprehended inside the store, while Clayton and Shubrick-Shurley were found in the parking lot. Shubrick-Shurley initially resisted arrest, defying officers’ commands before being taken into custody alongside Clayton.

The investigation revealed the suspects were carrying stolen credit cards and were linked to thefts at Marshalls and Nordstrom Rack earlier that day. Clayton and Battle were also tied to a previous larceny at DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse on June 4.

Shubrick-Shurley faces charges of Robbery, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Obstructing Governmental Administration , and two counts of Petit Larceny. Clayton is charged with Robbery, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Burglary, Grand Larceny, Criminal Possession of Anti-Security Item, and Petit Larceny. Battle is charged with Robbery, Grand Larceny, and two counts of Petit Larceny. The suspects will be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
