Rocky Point, NY — Suffolk County Police arrested two women during a raid at Rocky Point Foot SPA on Tuesday, marking the second raid at the location this year.
Responding to community complaints, Seventh Precinct Crime Section officers, along with Seventh Squad detectives and the Town of Brookhaven Attorney’s Office, conducted an investigation at a foot spa located at 379 Route 25A, Unit G. This follows a previous raid at the same establishment on January 16, where two women were also arrested.
Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Jane Bonner said that since the January raid she had asked police to keep an eye on the spot saying they tend to reopen clandestinely.
The establishment is in a shopping center that is also home to a Starbucks drive-thru on the northeast intersection of Hallock Landing Road and Route 25A in Rocky Point.
Xiaoyan Song, 48, and Yueh-Ping Chu, 58, both of Flushing, were charged with Unauthorized Practice of a Profession. The Town of Brookhaven issued several violations related to the operation of the business.
Unauthorized practice of a profession, according to new-york-lawyers.org, is engaging in a profession requiring a license without that license.
Just last Thursday, police conducted a raid on Lucky 9 Wellness, a massage parlor located at 31 Fairway Drive in Rocky Point, leading to the arrest of two women.
Both women were issued Desk Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
As always, it is important to note that a criminal charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
